Vis_D3D is a Direct 3D visualization plugin for Winamp. It generates a moving landscape that changes form along with the music that you listen to with Winamp. You can download the plugin to try it out, and you can also download the source code and learn how to program 3D visualizations yourself

Consolation of my website so I’m moving this site from its old geocities location.  I fear this plugin has been in limbo lately, but actually it works better than what I described in my last email.

However one frustrating thing was that Microsoft has dropped the API that this plug-in used.  So don’t bother looking at the details of the 3D code and thinking that you’ll be able to learn a lot of relevant information.

I did manage to get textures working again on newer hardware, but in my most recent attempts I was limited to just the solid color.  It runs really fast on new machines, almost makes me want to puke.  J

So I guess this project will have to get filed away in the “obsolete” pile….

This wouldn't have be possible without Winamp!

I've been greatly inspired by those great visualizations already out there: in particular Prince, Helix, and Cthuga.

Thanks also to Andrew Forget, Dilip Singh, Martin Dufour, Mike Morin and Adam Ramadam for assistance and advice.
